SPRING CREEK KAYAKING
Spring Creek is an Oregon State must-do place to paddle. This slow-moving spring creek is just as it sounds, spring-fed. Though the name Spring Creek may not be all that original, the location is in fact spectacular. With about two miles to cover to the headwaters, we paddle upstream to find the dancing sand (this is what our nieces coined 30 years ago to describe the way the river bed dances with the bubbling spring water movement. Along the way, you’ll watch for eagles and other birds and chuckle when kayaks look like they are magically floating on air. The water is so clear and blue it appears as though the kayaks are suspended above the creek.
This is a low-key paddle if there is no wind and usually takes about 2+ hours on the water. It is suitable for kids 4+ in tandem kayaks with an adult. It looks as though it would be a lovely place to swim but it is in fact “ice cream headache cold”. Swimming is not recommended.
If you’d like to join us for Kayaking Spring Creek, we’ll meet at the Crater Lake Zipline location located at 29840 Highway 140 West, Klamath Falls OR 97601 (look for the Crater Lake Zipline signs- we are co-located with ROE!), and prepare you for a fantastic adventure on the meandering Spring Creek. You’ll follow us for about 35 minutes in your own vehicle to the boat launch located just off of Highway 97 North. If you’re staying north of Klamath Falls, please call our office for an alternate meeting location.
After the guides provide a safety briefing we’ll begin paddling upstream and once we’ve made our way to the headwaters, we’ll paddle back to where we began. ROE will provide the gear you need for paddling and the guides will bring their knowledge and experience. Our guides are always ready to coach you with paddling techniques as we paddle.
Plan to have 3+ hours for this adventure with 2 of those hours on the water.
All of our guided tours include the kayak, lifejackets, paddles, and Oregon waterway access passes you’ll need to paddle.
