WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE CANOPY TOUR?

During your experience at Crater Lake Zipline, you’ll ride the treetops of the Fremont-Winema National Forest on almost a mile and a half of cable covering 9 ziplines. We will drive you with our UTV from our Outpost located at the bottom of the course to the top of the course. After a short 20 foot walk you will participate in Ground School. Next with your safety harness connected to the zip line cables, you will travel from platform to platform experiencing 9 ziplines. Additional elements are included in the tour such as a 2 suspension bridges or sky bridges, 2 controlled descent rappels and a short hike downhill to the Outpost. Each tour is led by 2 knowledgeable and experienced guides.

WHAT IF I'VE NEVER ZIPPED BEFORE?

That’s okay! Most of our guests have never experienced the thrill of a canopy tour adventure before. That’s why our guides make sure that they give a complete orientation session before starting ground school, and why we make sure we do everything we can to make you feel comfortable about your adventure. Your encouraging and trained guides will lead you every step, zip and jump of the way. Please read our requirements prior to booking your tour.

CANCELLATION POLICY?

All reservations are charged in full at the time of booking. If you need to cancel or modify your reservation you are required to notify us 72 hours/3 days prior to your scheduled tour. Reservations are considered final 72 hours/3 days prior to your scheduled tour and are not eligible for a refund OR rescheduling. If you need to cancel prior to the 72 hour notification period a refund will be given minus a 10% processing fee.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

We suggest that you dress as if you were going for a hike. You will be wearing a helmet, full body harness and gloves so dress for comfort. The temperatures can be different at the outpost so we suggest bringing layers and making the final decision once you arrive. Long shorts or pants are best and shirts that will help keep your torso and shoulders comfortable in the harness.

You must wear closed toe shoes. Flip flops, sandals or shoes with no back are NOT allowed. If you do not have appropriate footwear you may not participate on the course and no refund will be given. Please come with appropriate shoes and clothes.

HOW LONG DOES THE COURSE TAKE TO COMPLETE?

ZipLine Canopy Tour:
From departure time our course takes approximately 2.5 – 3.5 hours to complete with 8-10 participants *dependent on group dynamic. We ask that you plan for at least 3.5 to 4 hours total.

We have no control over how any guest will react to the course. Some guests will take longer than others and so extend the estimated course time that they are out. Make sure you TAKE THIS into consideration as you plan your tour with us. Please be patient, especially with others in your group.

All tour lengths are estimates. Times may be shorter or longer depending on number on the tour, physical abilities and fear factor. Tour times do include gear up and safety briefings as well as your zip line tour.

Sasquatch Hollow Kids ZipLine Adventure:
The kids adventure is a two-hour adventure.  Participants have up to two hours to play on the course.

SPECTATOR POLICY?

If you are not able to participate, spectators are welcome to relax in the comfort zone. You will be able to see the participants take their final zip. During operation we do not allow anyone to walk the road or trail systems setup on course or to meet a group at the bottom for safety reasons.

No motor vehicles or bicycles are allowed on roadways and paths past the Outpost except for emergency and authorized vehicles.

CAN PREGNANT WOMEN ZIP?

For the safety of the mother to be and the baby, we do not allow women who are pregnant in any stage to participate in the zip-lines.

WHAT IF I'M NOT IN GREAT SHAPE?

You don’t have to be an athlete to do the Crater Lake Zipline Canopy Tour.  You should however be in relatively good physical health with normal arm and hand strength.  Our course requires you to use your hand with a special glove to slow and stop yourself.  Your hands must be above your head for this.    We have very little hiking on the tour (just one short walk about a football field length at the end) but we are zipping at height and it is not super fast if you need to come down off the course for any reason.  If you have any medical conditions that require immediate medical attention then the tour is not for you.  If you are unsure please discuss it with your physician.   We recommend watching some of the videos to get a good sense of the course and what is required.

RV & BUS PARKING?

We have a nice sized parking area.  There is also room to turn a large RV or bus around.  We do not allow overnight parking but we’ve never had a bus or RV have trouble getting into or out of the parking area.

WHERE CAN I LEAVE MY DOG?

We do not have a dog kennel or area for you to leave your dog while you are on the zipline.  We do not recommend leaving your dog in your vehicle as it can get very warm in the parking area.  We recommend that you try Double C Kennels in Klamath Falls for day services.

DURING

DO WE HIKE BACK TO THE OUTPOST?

You will have a short downhill walk back to the Outpost once you exit the course. It is a gradual decline and is about the length of a football field.

CAN I MAKE RESERVATIONS FOR GROUPS OF 8+?

Yes, we can accommodate large groups! Please call 541.892.9477 and allow our reservation team to facilitate the booking. Our group discount is available with 15 participants and is $10 off per guest. Group discounts are not available June – August or holiday weekends. NOTE: Group discounts must be paid with one credit card at the time of booking and group discounts may not be combined with any other discounts.

WHAT IF I'M RUNNING LATE?

All canopy tours begin at the booked time, so please arrive on time. If you expect to arrive late, please call us at 541.892.9477 and we will determine if we can accommodate you on another tour that day. This will be case-by-case basis, determined by our manager on duty and may not be available.  Refunds and rescheduling will not be issued to late arrivals, so please plan accordingly.  Please note our address: 29840 Highway 140 West, Klamath Falls OR 97601.  We are not located inside Crater Lake National Park but 40 minutes south.  Please look up directions in advance.  If you need help with directions or estimated driving times please call our office in advance.

CAN I BRING MY PHONE OR CAMERA?

No, you will be wearing gloves for braking on the lines. You will not be able to operate your phone or camera with the gloves on. We’ve also discovered that having your phone or camera capturing your attention will completely change your experience on the adventure as well as those with you on the tour. This is your chance for adventure and to connect with the others on the tour. To do that, you’ve really got to disconnect from electronics. Our guides and staff do take photos that will be available for purchase at the end of your tour.

WHAT IF I ARRIVE AND JUST CAN'T DO IT?

Sometimes, our guests decide that the course is a bit too much for them to attempt or our guides may need to make the decision that you will be unable to complete the tour and its requirements. Please understand that even though a guest decides to not go out on the course, or does not complete the course fully or are determined unable to complete the course because they do not meet the ground school requirements, they took up a slot for another paying guest. The charge is to cover scheduled guide expenses and your trip cost will NOT be refunded. Thank you in advance for your understanding

DO YOU ALLOW DRINKING ON THE COURSE?

Please note that we will not allow anyone onto the TOURS who has been consuming alcohol or drugs that can impair physical and or mental capabilities. This is for your safety as well as the group’s and staff’s safety. If we believe you are or have been under the influence, we WILL NOT allow you onto the course. If this happens, you will still be responsible for charges for your reserved canopy tour slot(s).

** Please note and understand that our staff and management have the right to refuse anyone participation rights if they do not meet the course requirements or if it is deemed unsafe for them or anyone else in the group. Staff has the final say on participation.

WHAT IF IT'S TOO COLD OUTSIDE?

Please be aware that our winter months can be quite cold. Zipping in the cold is fun, if you are dressed for the weather. We recommend you layer your clothing. Based upon the temperature we recommend that you consider wearing long underwear, wool socks, warm cap, warm jacket, glove liners (full gloves will not fit under the gloves you will be required to wear to zip). We have ‘hot hands’ and glove liners for sale at the outpost.

If you have any questions, feel free to call the office. *there is no such thing as bad weather, just “bad clothing.”

WHAT IF IT RAINS?

Our canopy tours run rain or shine, in all weather conditions, unless extreme wind or lightening interfere with operational safety. The course manager on duty will determine tour cancellations and guests may be notified at any time regarding cancellation. In the event that your tour is cancelled by Crater Lake Zipline, you will receive a refund or a rain check voucher depending on the circumstances. We reserve the right to postpone or ‘pause’ and tour for up to one hour to wait out inclement weather and resume normal operations. Rain gear is not provided and you are expected to dress appropriately for the weather. Synthetic clothing is recommended when wet weather is expected.

CAN I BRING MY GOPRO?

Yes!  You will need to wear it on the helmet we provide.  Your GoPro will need to have a standard helmet clip attachment on it. We DO NOT provide the attachment.  You MAY NOT wear a chest or wrist mount.  We also have GoPro rentals available.

WHAT IS A RAPPEL?

A descent off of a platform, you will be attached to a advanced rope and pulley system that is tested daily before course use.

DO WE EVER ZIP IN TANDEM?

No, each zipline is for one person at a time only. No exceptions.

ARE THERE BATHROOMS ALONG THE WAY?

There are outhouses located at the Outpost before you take off. There are NO restrooms on the course, so be sure to empty your bladders before getting geared up in your harness.

CAN I WEAR MY GLASSES?

Yes, but you might consider wearing an eyewear retainer to ensure that your glasses do not fall off. Retainers are available for purchase in our on-site retail area. Crater Lake Zipline is not responsible for and cannot recover any items dropped from the course.

SHOULD I BRING WATER?

In your car, yes. But on the course water bottles will not be permitted. About half way through the course you will take a break in the trees for some water.

CAN I BRING MY BACKPACK?

No backpacks will be permitted on the course, with the exception of the guides, who carry first aid and rescue supplies.

IS THERE A PLACE TO STORE MY PURSE, WALLET, ETC WHILE I'M ON THE TOUR?

No. Please leave bags and valuable items at home or locked in your car. We do have a place to keep your keys while on your tour, but we are not responsible for any items left on our decks or in the yurt.

AFTER

DO GUIDES TAKE PHOTOS?

SMILE! We know memories are important! The guides will carry a camera throughout the course. Once back to the outpost, your photos will be loaded into a slideshow for you to view. If you like what you see, let the retail staff know and you may purchase one of our photo packages that will be available by an email link to our photo system. If you have a special request for a photo, the guides will do their best to provide but please remember that operating the course and caring for guests comes before the photos. Photos may not always be available.  Note: Our gloves must remain on during your tour and don’t work with cell phone screens. For your safety and in consideration of other guests, please leave cells phones cameras and other valuables locked in your vehicle.

HOW DO I PURCHASE PHOTOS?
