Position Summary

Zipline Tour Guides are responsible for leading educational, and exhilarating canopy tours while mitigating risk. Guides manage guest experience from check-in through course completion, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols while maintaining an engaging and welcoming atmosphere.

Guides mitigate risk, conduct inspections, perform rescues when necessary, transport guests to ground school, and create an interpretive narrative highlighting local history, wildlife, ecology, and geology.

Guides work in pairs and operate within a supportive, highly communicative team environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead canopy zipline tours with professionalism and enthusiasm
  • Greet and engage guests in a friendly, confident manner
  • Conduct safety orientations and ground school instruction
  • Properly outfit guests in harnesses, helmets, and safety equipment
  • Perform daily inspections of course elements and gear
  • Monitor and manage tour group safety at all times
  • Perform course rescues as trained
  • Safely transport guests via UTV to the ground school location
  • Maintain tour timing and operational flow
  • Use radios to maintain constant team communication

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age by June 30 of the season applying for
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Current Adult & Child First Aid and CPR Certification (required prior to first day of work)
  • Complete and pass Crater Lake Zipline Guide School (ASTM-compliant; fees apply)
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to work long hours, weekends, and variable shifts
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-adrenaline or emergent situations

No prior zipline experience required — we train the right candidates.

Position Summary

Kayak Tour Guides are responsible for leading engaging, and educational kayak tours for guests of varying experience levels. Guides mitigate risk, provide paddling instruction, manage group dynamics, share interpretive information about local wildlife and geology, and create a welcoming and memorable experience for every participant.

Guides serve as outdoor leaders, educators, and safety professionals while representing the mission and values of Crater Lake Zipline.

Note: While our company name references Crater Lake, kayaking tours operate on Spring Creek, Malone Springs Wildlife Refuge, and Lake of the Woods — not at Crater Lake National Park.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead guided kayak tours at Spring Creek, Malone Springs Wildlife Refuge, and Lake of the Woods
  • Conduct safety briefings and provide clear paddling instruction
  • Ensure proper life jacket fit and equipment usage

  • Perform and assist with water rescues as trained

Training Provided

No guiding experience required — we train the right people.

Guide training begins in April, May, or June (multiple session options available) and includes:

  • Water safety and rescue procedures
  • Risk management and emergency response
  • Guest communication and storytelling techniques
  • Equipment handling and maintenance
  • Professional standards and operational procedures

You’ll be supported by experienced leadership throughout the season.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age by June 30 of the season applying for
  • Strong swimming ability
  • Physically capable of lifting and carrying kayaks (50+ lbs)
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to work long hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to remain calm and decisive in emergent situations
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to drive a 4×4 truck and tow a gear trailer
  • Current Adult & Child First Aid and CPR Certification (required prior to start date or ability to obtain before employment begins)

  • Experience in guiding, recreation, hospitality, or education

Essential Functions

  • Perform excellent risk management in remote settings.
  • Work positively with other team members to implement all aspects of a Crater Lake Zipline LLC trip from pack-up to clean-up to provide guest with a  meaningful, and memorable experience while mitigating risk.
  • Instruct guests on best practices for paddling kayaks on calm water. 
  • Perform water rescue in the event of a tip-over or emergency.
  • Engage and respond to guests in a positive, friendly and supportive manner, including meeting their expressed and unexpressed needs.
  • Take care of equipment and facilities.
  • Provide meaningful interpretation to our guests on natural and cultural history topics pertinent to the trip such as geology, wildlife refuges, spring creeks, Crater Lake National Park, Modoc Indian War, Applegate Trail, etc.
  • Professionally represent Crater Lake Zipline and its mission, vision, and values.
  • Speak positively of the company, owners, and region to guests and your co-workers at all times.
  • Act as a good steward of the natural world and follow Leave No Trace practices such as picking up trash.
  • Follow policies and procedures as outline in the Employee Manual. Train new and upcoming guides as needed in all aspects of this position.
  • Follow all state and federal laws while guiding any trips. It is your responsibility to know the laws and rules including marine/boating regulations.
  • Always keep a functional first aid kit with you during guided trips.
  • Clean all kayaks, lifejackets, and paddles as needed. 
  • Load and unload the kayak trailer when needed. 
  • Have a cooler and ice with water available for guests daily.
  • Tow in guests if the need arises.
  • Inspect gear and fit life jackets to guests before every tour launch.
  • Perform other duties as needed of assigned.

Position Summary

Kids Zipline Guides are responsible for mitigating risk and leading engaging, and confidence-building experiences on our children’s zipline adventure course. Guides manage safety systems, provide instruction tailored to young participants, encourage hesitant guests, and ensure every child feels supported and successful.

This role requires patience, creativity, emotional awareness, and the ability to adapt communication styles to meet the needs of children and families.

Guides work closely with ground support team members in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Essential Functions

  • Display professional leadership and unforgettable customer service: interacting with guests in a humorous, engaging, and friendly manner while providing information, answering questions and collecting contact details and payment information
  • Answer Multi-line phone system in a friendly, clear, and helpful manner
  • Greet guests promptly and enthusiastically in a warm and professional manner
  • Relay rules and pre-tour safety information about what to wear and how to prepare for each tour group
  • Check guests in on Reservation System
  • Verify guest waivers are completed and help them complete on-site when necessary
  • Discreetly and politely weigh guests upon check-in
  • Measure the height and weight of individuals checking in for Sasquatch Hollow kid’s adventure
  • Safely transport guests in UTVs to the ground school location
  • Perform ground support during course rescues
  • Retail displays and sales
  • Manage tour departure timing efficiently to meet operational time requirements
  • Perform daily opening and/or closing procedures of the office and ground facilities as assigned
  • Clean and stock outhouses as needed
  • Clean and maintain outdoor furniture and grounds as needed
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, safety and technical protocols at all times
  • Take guest photos at designated locations
  • Upload photos to online photo system for guest purchase
  • Maintain communication with guide and ground team members using company radios
  • Promote social media reviews and opportunities to purchase souvenirs to tour groups
  • Answer email and phone messages promptly
  • Assist with overall site appearance, cleanliness, and trail/course maintenance
  • Food service prep
  • Prepare guest’s lunches as assigned
  • Make non-alcoholic drinks and serve beer and cider
  • Make sandwich wraps and other food items
  • Keep Food trucks clean.
  • Attend required meetings and training
  • Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Must be 18 years of age by May of the summer for which they are applying.

Must be 18 years of age to serve and sell alcohol and possess a liquor server license.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with retail sales, customer service, food service, hospitality, or administrative duties

No prior experience or training

Language Skills

Ability to speak fluent English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before both adults and children in group and individual settings.

Ability to speak multiple languages preferred.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to operate a standard calculator. Ability to use percentages to apply discounts and fees. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to perform keyboarding, use Microsoft Word, navigate Windows operating systems, have knowledge of Internet software, and use office equipment such as printers and scanners.

Possess Current Adult and Child First Aid and CPR Certification before the first day of work.

Job Specifics

Training begins upon start date.

The season runs from April through October. Exceptions are available for full-time students

Housing and transportation are not provided for this position. Please plan accordingly.

Uniforms and Gear

The company will provide personal protective equipment (harness, helmet, gloves, radios, etc.)

Two staff shirts will be provided at no cost. Staff shirts are always required.

All staff members are required to maintain excellent hygiene and a professional appearance.

Do you provide housing? No – but we can recommend some shared housing opportunities if you are hired. Most staff live in Klamath Falls Oregon

How old do I have to be? Zipline guides must be age 18 or older. Kids zipline guide support must be age 18 or older. Customer service and sales staff must be age 18 or older.

Do you provide transportation? The company does not provide transportation to and from the work place.

Do we have health benefits? We do not have a company health care benefit.

Is this full time or part time? full time and part time seasonal positions are available.

Is there a uniform? Uniform shirts are required and adhering to the dress code is mandatory.
