Looking for a unique way to experience the Upper Klamath Wildlife Refuge? Our kayak rentals are the perfect option for those who want to explore on their own terms. We offer single and two-person sit-on-top kayaks. Rentals include drop-off and pick-up at the Rocky Point Boat Launch, just 5 minutes from our office. This boat launch provides direct access to the scenic Upper Klamath Canoe/Kayak Trail, where you can paddle through peaceful waters, observe local wildlife, and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.

Depending on your selection, our kayak rentals allow up to 4 or 8 hours of paddle time, giving you the flexibility to explore at your own pace. If you finish earlier than expected, simply give us a call, and we’ll meet you at the boat launch to pick up your kayaks.

We provide a kayak, lifejacket, paddle, whistle, & access pass for your time on the water. Whether you’re a seasoned paddler or a beginner, this self-guided rental is a great way to enjoy the beauty of the Upper Klamath Wildlife Refuge on your own terms.

We make it easy by delivering your kayak, paddle, and gear directly to the Rocky Point Boat Launch. When your adventure ends, we’ll pick everything up for you—no extra work required!

Your rental includes a stable, high-quality kayak (single or tandem), paddle, life jacket, whistle, and waterway access pass—everything you need for a safe, smooth trip.

Choose between a 4-hour or 8-hour rental to fit your schedule. Whether you’re planning a leisurely paddle or a full day of exploration, you’re in control. If you finish early, just let us know, and we’ll handle the pickup.

Start your journey from the Rocky Point Boat Launch, just a quick 5-minute drive from our office. The convenient location gives you direct access to the scenic Upper Klamath Canoe Trail. After you check in at our office, you will follow our kayak delivery driver to the boat launch in your vehicle. The boat launch is about 5 minutes away.

TIMES & DURATION

Kayak rentals are for either 4 or 8-hour rentals. Participants can paddle for up to their selected rental time. If you finish early we’ll come grab your kayak. Please reserve your rental based on the time you would like begin your kayaking. Check-in is 30 minutes before your scheduled departure.

PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS

All participants must meet the following criteria:

  • Age: 4+ (Children under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the kayak tour.)
  • Weight: Weigh less than 300 pounds
  • Swim: Able to swim with a lifejacket on
  • Lifejacket: Can fit appropriately into a provided lifejacket. Lifejackets must be worn while kayaking. 
  • Physical Health: Participants should be in good physical health and capable of handling the physical demands of kayaking.
  • Pregnancy: For safety reasons, pregnant individuals are not permitted to participate.
  • Substance Use: All participants must be free from the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the activity.
  • Signed Participant Agreement: Each participant must read and sign a participant agreement before their tour begins.

LOCATION

You will follow our kayak delivery driver to the boat launch in your own vehicle. The boat launch is about 5 minutes away.

We are located within the Fremont-Winema National Forest, approximately 40 minutes south of Crater Lake National Park. Please note, we are not located inside Crater Lake National Park. Double-check your directions and estimated drive time before your trip to ensure a smooth arrival.

WHAT TO WEAR

  • Clothing: Comfortable clothes and shoes that can get wet.
  • Weather Prep: Shorts, t-shirts, and a hoodie are typically great—but dress for the day’s conditions.
  • Evening Layers: Temperatures drop when the sun sets, so pack extra layers.
  • Eye Protection: Sunglasses or eyeglasses with a strap to keep them secure.
  • Sunscreen: Don’t forget to protect your skin from UV rays.
  • Hat: A hat for added sun protection.
  • Hydration: A reusable plastic or metal water bottle is best.
  • Bug Spray: Keep the bugs at bay and enjoy your time outdoors.
  • Dry Bag: Pack a waterproof bag or case for electronics and keys.

WHAT NOT TO BRING

For the safety and enjoyment of all participants, you may not bring the following items on your kayak tour:

  • Phones or Electronics That Can’t Get Wet – Leave any devices that aren’t waterproof behind.
  • Pets – For safety and comfort, pets are not allowed on the tour.
  • Glass Containers – Glass is fragile and can break easily on the water.
  • Heavy or Bulky Items – Limit what you bring to essentials for a smoother, more enjoyable ride.
  • Valuables – Avoid bringing items like jewelry or anything of high value that could get lost or damaged.
  • Large Bags – Keep your gear compact and manageable for your safety and comfort.

Excessive Food or Drink – Bring only what you’ll need to stay hydrated and energized—no large coolers or heavy snacks.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Reservations are non-refundable and may not be canceled or rescheduled within 72 hours of your scheduled tour. If you need to cancel or adjust the number of participants, please contact our office at 541-892-9477.
Cancellations made more than 72 hours in advance are eligible for a refund, minus a 10% processing fee.
For added peace of mind, we strongly recommend purchasing trip insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances.

Rentals are available for 4 or 8 hour rentals. You can call us for pick up if you finish paddling before your scheduled time and we’ll do our best to pick up more quickly.

Yes, each kayak has a weight limit of 300 lbs for single kayaks and 450 for two-person kayaks. Be sure to check the weight capacity to ensure a comfortable experience.

Yes, you can take kayak rentals to another location but you are responsible for transporting them to and from the paddling location with your own vehicle.
