Darren, co-owner of Crater Lake Zipline, is a legendary fly fishing and bird hunting guide, talented chef, and notorious prankster. With over 40 years of guiding experience, Darren has been leading adventure seekers since 1984. As the founder of ROE Outfitters and co-owner of Crater Lake Zipline, he’s built a legacy of outdoor adventure, personally guiding generations of clients.
Darren oversees guide training, daily operations, and staff development. Alongside his partner, Jenifer Roe, he also plays a key role in strategic planning and product development. While his love for the outdoors is clear, we have a hunch he secretly dreams of being a chef in another life. His nickname at the park? Grumpy Old Man—say hello if you spot him!
Jenifer Roe, co-owner and idea curator at Crater Lake Zipline, is dedicated to creating unforgettable outdoor experiences that connect families with the beauty of her community. Her personal journey, including a period of temporary blindness, taught her that peace often comes from letting go—embracing life’s uncertainties with laughter and grace. This philosophy shapes her approach to both adventure and life.
A native of Klamath Falls, Jenifer grew up working on her family’s Christmas tree farm and other small businesses. After earning a degree in International Relations from UC Davis, she worked in marketing in London before returning to the Klamath Basin to focus on tourism.
Today, Jenifer leads Crater Lake Zipline, offering family-friendly adventures like ziplines, kayaking, hiking, axe throwing, and mountain lake fishing tours. She’s proud to work alongside her husband, Darren, and their two adult children. With over 30 years in tourism, Jenifer is committed to promoting Oregon’s natural beauty, supporting local economies, and enhancing community livability.
When not dreaming up and testing out new adventure ideas, Jenifer is exploring the world, collecting sea glass, and uncovering hidden treasures. Jenifer also serves on the Travel Southern Oregon Board, the Fremont-Winema National Forest Resource Advisory Committee, and the Oregon Tourism Commission.
Park Nickname: Zip Mom
Ethan, a Southern Oregon native, grew up immersed in outdoor adventures. His journey as a guide began at a young age, helping his father, Darren, as a deckhand on fishing trips and waterfowl hunts. In 2018, he joined Crater Lake Zipline as a Kid’s Zipline Adventure Park guide, quickly advancing to the role of Canopy Tour guide the following year.
After finishing high school in 2020, Ethan balanced his role at Crater Lake Zipline with earning a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the Oregon Institute of Technology, graduating in 2023. Now fully dedicated to the Zipline team as a park manager, Ethan continues to share his love for the outdoors with guests from all walks of life.
When he’s not guiding, Ethan channels his creativity into music, clothing design, photography, & videography. He also enjoys sports and exploring the great outdoors. His patient and steady approach to life has earned him the playful nickname “Molasses” among his team.
Ethan’s passion for adventure and knack for creating memorable experiences make him an invaluable part of Crater Lake Zipline.
Meet Averie, our energetic and fun-loving Lead Guide at Crater Lake Zipline! With over 5 years of guiding experience and 2,000+ hours on zipline courses, Averie has a wealth of knowledge and a passion for adventure. He’s a seasoned canopy tour guide who’s always ready to share a laugh—and a cheesy dad joke or two. For example, “Why don’t skeletons ever zipline? They don’t have the guts!” His humor is sure to keep you smiling (or groaning).
Averie loves working with guests who might be nervous, especially those who think they can’t do it. His favorite part of the job is helping people push past their fears and turn “I can’t” into “I DID it.” His goal is for everyone to leave with a smile, a sense of accomplishment, and a new love for ziplining.
When he’s not zipping through the trees, Averie enjoys hitting the gym, gaming, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. Fun fact: He went on his first zipline at age 7! And if you ask him about his zipline nickname, he might just tell you “Captain Pun”, because when it comes to bad dad jokes, he’s the captain of the crew!
Ready for an adventure filled with laughs and encouragement? Averie’s the guy to make sure you have a blast while conquering the trees.
